Thank you so much for over 400 pounds of wonderful food, treats, baking supplies, and personal care items!!!! It looks a lot like Christmas on our shelves because of you!!!! We are grateful to you all for sharing your big hearts with us throughout the year and especially at this Blessed Season!!! Special thanks to the people who deliver each month to us!!!!! We are teaming up again with Back2Back Ministries to buy bananas for the kids in the Back2Back Orphanages in India. We will have everything from banana cookies, banana muffins, banana bread, banana cake, to banana everything. All proceeds from the bake sale will go toward purchasing bananas for the orphans. $30 can provide bananas to 250 children for a week! Do you like to bake? If you would like to provide items for the bake sale, we need lots of yummy banana baked treats! We will be selling banana bread by the loaf. If you make a loaf of banana bread, please leave it whole and put it in a Ziploc bag. These loaves are popular and tend to sell out well before the 11:30 Mass, so we would love more donations of whole loaves of bread! We are also selling any banana type of bake sale item that does not need to be refrigerated. This can be anything from cookies, muffins, bread, cake, or anything that you can think of! Please package these items two per Ziploc bag. We will also be selling whole banana cakes or bars. Please bake your cake/bars in a disposable/non-returnable cake pan. Please either drop off your baked goods to our table in the Gathering Space that weekend before or after Mass, or arrange a time to drop them off at my house on Friday, February 14th or Saturday, February 15th. These items freeze well, so you can also bake now, stick them in your freezer, or drop them off to me anytime and I will stick them in my freezer! Please let me know if you can provide anything for the bake sale so I can have an idea of what to expect. Catie Anderson, MustangsServe@gmail.com or 513-508-7840. St. Michael has recently added a new outreach project to our already long list of opportunities to serve those most in need. Every third Saturday, St. Michael will provide a lunch for the Center for Respite Care (www.centerforrespitecare.org), a recovery center for the homeless who need medical care. Food is prepared in our homes, then delivered and served by 2 to 5 volunteers. You can help by contributing food, taking the meal to the Center in OTR, or both. Our first opportunity is Saturday, February 15. To help, contact Jodi Mott at jodimott4@gmail.com or at 513-460-2424. Many hands will be needed and very welcome! Volunteers must be at least 15 years old to visit the Center. Thank you! Catholic Ministries Appeal It is time to kick off the 2020 Catholic Ministries Appeal throughout the archdiocese! The CMA is our opportunity each year to support the work of six vital ministries all of which operate right here in our archdiocese. Also, if we exceed our parish goal for the CMA, 50% of our overage comes back to St. Michael Parish. Please prayerfully consider supporting this year s CMA. Your help is needed as we stand Together for the Faith of the Gospel for thousands of people served throughout our archdiocese. January 19, 2020 Children s Corner G r a d e s K 1 Sharing the Gospel John the Baptist told everyone that Jesus was the Son of God. He told them the Holy Spirit came down on Jesus and remained on him as the Scriptures said. Jesus taught his disciples and others. He healed people to show his power as the Son of God. God wants you to be his disciple. He wants you to be a good example of a loving child of God. Prayer Lord, I will be a good disciple by learning and sharing your words. Something to Draw Draw John pointing out Jesus as the Son of God. Mission for the Week I will ask someone to read the Bible to me every day. St. Michael Church Sharonville, Ohio G r a d e s 2 3 Sharing the Gospel Imagine how excited John the Baptist must have felt after he baptized Jesus. He knew without a doubt that Jesus was God's Son. The very next day John told the crowds that Jesus would take away the sins of the world. God's people had eaten a Passover lamb every year to remember how God saved them from death in Egypt. Jesus was the Lamb of God. He frees you from your old sins and offers you new life with God. Prayer Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus to take away my sins. Something to Draw Draw a picture of a lamb. Mission for the Week Read the story about the very first Passover, when God saved the Hebrews from the Angel of Death (Exodus 12). 10
